Asked about MaverickBruin.com's competitors, Haggerty politely declined to comment. "I think all of the websites do a good job. But the whole reason we are back is that some of the 'rebel' websites of the past are now so focused on either getting themselves over as scouts, or maintaining their access by censoring news that is of interest to Bruin fans all over the world, that there is a void that MaverickBruin.com needs to fulfill. There is information out there that these websites and the UCLA administration does not want you to know; it's been effectively 'banned' from the internet by these mutual 'I wash your back you wash mine' arrangements. That's where we come in; we are 'putting the banned back together.'"
MaverickBruin.com has an impressive pedigree as one of the original internet sites providing inside information and analysis about UCLA athletics in the early days of the internet. The site predicted Steve Lavin's firing, Ben Howland's ascent and Karl Dorrell's destruction of the UCLA football program.
